The Rationalists

This is a story of great love and greater tragedy, of politics and morality, of superstition versus science, of pioneers and profiteers, betrayal and injustice. It is a story of profound contrasts, both between the personalities of the central characters, and the ideologies of a group of colleagues who began their association as comrades and parted as bitter enemies.

It is a story, the full detail of which may have gone untold were it not for a collection of poems and short stories left in the bedroom drawers of a very old woman. These poems, spanning fifty years, trace her journey of self discovery and reveal a remarkable degree of intuition and accurate prophesy. It is a story of family torn apart by their battle with a fascist movement in Melbourne, Australia in the late 1930’s.
